The Burstware delivery system consists of three components: the Burstware Server, the Burstware Conductor and Burst-Enabled Players. This multi-tiered architecture provides a highly scalable and reliable platform for multimedia delivery and management.

Burstware® provides the highest quality multimedia delivery and playback available while optimizing your network resources. Burstware provides many features and benefits that are unavailable through other technologies

The Server continuously monitors buffer levels and bandwidth, scheduling managed "bursts" of content according to available resources and player needs.
  • Patented buffer management system provides superior client isolation from network problems
  • Intelligent network resource manager with advanced scheduling algorithm
  • Control over the impact of video and audio on the network: bandwidth use to the allocated bandwidth
  • CODEC-neutral

The Conductor manages the distribution of requests over multiple servers, balancing the load and providing complete fail-over protection if a server goes down.
  • Provides a point of control for video and audio on the network
  • Balances load among multiple servers
  • Insulates player from network and server deployment issues
  • Provides server to player fail-over mechanism
  • Delivers enterprise-class reliability through no single-point-of-failure-architecture
  • Scalable, multi-tiered architecture

The Windows Media Player and QuickTime for Windows Player have been Burst-Enabled to play content from Burstware Servers. The Burst-Enabled Players are isolated from network interruptions because content is played directly from the local buffer.
  • Provides Disk or RAM-based caching for effective isolation from network noise
  • Supports player scripting and high interactivity
  • Browser-embedded or stand-alone
  • Full VCR functionality
  • OEM branding
  • Supported media types: MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4 ASF, AVI, Divx, MOV, H.263, WAV, AU, QT(Windows) Sorenson, and MP3
